Abstract
251,902. Jordan, H. I. Jan. 4, 1926. Golf clubs; shafts. - The head of a golf club is made of laminµ of wood veneer strips fastened together with their edges extending across the playing face and arranged with the ends of the grains of a portion of the laminµ terminating in the striking part of the playing face. In making the head, an assemblage of laminµ 5, Fig. 2, of hard wood treated with a suitable adhesive, is subjected to pressure to form a hard block from which the head is shaped by well known methods, a socket 2 being provided to receive a shaft. Some of the laminµ have their end grains in the placing face 1 and others have their grains parallel to the face. The laminµ may be vertical to the sole 3 or may run obliquely in the general direction of the shaft. As shown in Fig. 6 the laminµ are continued to form an integral head and shaft.
