Description
Interior Door Panelling Assembly The invention relates to an interior door panelling assembly according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
Such interior door panelling assemblies are well-known from the mass production of vehicles in particular of passenger vehicles. Such an interior door panelling assembly for a side door of a vehicle comprises at least one interior door trim element. The interior door trim element serves for at least partially covering the side door towards the interior of the vehicle. For example, the interior door trim element serves for at least partially covering a structure of the side door towards the interior, the structure being made of a metallic material.
Moreover, beverage holding devices for vehicles are also well-known from the prior art.
Such beverage holding devices which are commonly referred to as cup holders serve for holding at least one beverage container. By means of the beverage holding device the beverage container can be secured from falling over while the vehicle is driving.
Usually, the beverage holding devices are arranged on or in respective instrument panels of the respective vehicle. Hence, space of the instrument panel which could be used for other purposes is wasted. It has also been shown that the beverage containers and as a consequence beverages stored in the beverage containers arranged on or in the instrument panel are heated up in a very short period of time.
It is therefore the task of the present invention to further develop an interior door panelling assembly of the initially mentioned kind which allows for a particularly space-efficient and particularly beneficial storage of at least one beverage container.
This task is solved by an interior door panelling assembly having the features of patent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention with expedient and non-trivial further developments are indicated in the remaining claims.
In order to further develop an interior door panelling assembly of the kind indicated in the preamble of patent claim 1 in such way that it allows for a particularly space-efficient and particularly beneficial storage of at least one beverage container, the interior door panelling assembly according to the present invention comprises a beverage holding device having at least one holding element for holding at least one beverage container.
The beverage holding device further comprises a cooling device for cooling the beverage container. In comparison with conventional cup holders arranged on or in instrument panels of vehicles, the interior panelling assembly according the present Invention allows for a particularly space-efficient storage of the beverage container on or in the side door.
As a consequence of this, space on or in the instrument panel can be created and can be used for other purposes.
In the area of the interior door trim element particularly beneficial space conditions for storing the at least one beverage container exist, whereas in the area of the instrument panel, usually, complex adjustments of the instrument panel for storing a beverage container have to be made. These adjustments can be avoided, as the interior door panelling assembly can be used for stowing the at least one beverage container in a very easy way. Besides1 considerably less space is required for storing the beverage container in the area of the interior door trim element than in the area of the instrument panel.
Furthermore, the beverage holding device of the interior door panelling assembly can be adapted very easily to given installation space limitations. The beverage holding device, for example, can allow for a substantially horizontal or vertical holding of the beverage container, depending on the given installation space of the interior door panelling assembly and/or of the interior.
The cooling device of the interior door panelling assembly serves for cooling the beverage container and thus for cooling beverages contained within the beverage container, so that an undesirably fast warming up of the beverages can be avoided.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the holding device can be configured as a modular component which can be attached optionally and at least indirectly to the interior door trim element. For example, by providing different moulded shapes the beverage holding device can be replaced by other accessories such as, for example, umbrella storage devices, cold drink cups, etc. Hence, an equipment of the interior door panelling assembly can be realised, the equipment being tailored to suit the needs of the passengers driving in the vehicle.
Further advantages, features and details of the invention derive from the following description of preferred embodiments as well as from the drawings. The features and feature combinations previously mentioned in the description and the features and feature combinations mentioned in the following description of the figures and/or shown in the figures alone can be used not only in the respective indicated combination, but also in any other combination or taken alone, without leaving the scope of the present invention.
The drawing shows in: Fig. 1 A cross sectional view of a side door of a passenger vehicle according to a first embodiment, the side door comprising a door panelling assembly having at least one interior door trim element for at least partially covering the side door towards the interior of the passenger vehicle, the interior door panelling assembly comprising a beverage holding device having at least one holding element for holding at least one beverage container and having a cooling device for cooling the beverage container; Fig. 2 A schematic side view of the side door; * Fig. 3 A schematic back view of a side door comprising the interior door panelling assembly according to a second embodiment; Fig. 4 A schematic side view of a side door comprising the interior panelling assembly according to a third embodiment; Fig. 5 A schematic side view of the interior door panelling assembly according to a fourth embodiment; and Fig. 6 A flow diagram for illustrating a flow of cooled air for cooling the beverage container held by means of the holding device of the respective interior door panelling assembly.
Figs. land 2 show a side door 10 for a vehicle in the form of a passenger vehicle. The side door 10 comprises a structure 12 which is also referred to as body-in-white and which, for example. is made of a metallic material. With reference to a state of the side door 10, in which the side door 10 is mounted on the passenger vehicle, the structure 12 is at least partially covered to the environment of the passenger vehicle by at least one outer panelling element 14. The outer panelling element 14 can also be made of a metallic material.
The side door 10 also comprises an interior door panelling assembly 16, which is also referred to as an interior door panelling module. By means of the interior door panelling assembly 16 the structure 12 is covered at least partially towards the interior of the vehicle. For this purpose, the interior door panelling assembly 16 comprises at least one interior door trim element 18 having an arm rest 20 and a storage compartment 22.
Furthermore, the interior panelling assembly 16 comprises a beverage holding device 23 having at least one holding element 24 for holding at least one beverage container which, in the present case, is a bottle 26 containing a potable drink. As can be seen from Fig. 2, the beverage holding device 23 also comprises a cooling device 28 for cooling the beverage container in the form of the bottle 26 held by the holding element 24.
For cooling the bottle 26 the cooling device 28 comprises at least one air duct 30 which can guide air for cooling the bottle 26 to the bottle 26. Therefore, the air duct 30 has a through opening 32, via whioh the air duct 30 can be fluidically connected to at least one further air duct extending in an instrument panel of the vehicle. The further air duct extending in the instrument panel is fluidically connected to an air conditioning system of the vehicle, the air conditioning system being also referred to as HVAC system. In order to fluidically connect the air duct 30 to the further air duct within the instrument panel, at least one adequate connecting element such as a ceiling can be envisaged. By means of the air conditioning system air, for example, from the interior of the vehicle and/or from the environment of the vehicle can be cooled. The air cooled by the air conditioning system can flow through the further air duct, by means of which the cooled air is guided to the air duct 30.
The cooled air can flow out of the further air duct and flow into the air duct 30 via the through opening 32. The air duct 30 extends within the interior trim element 18 and has a second through opening which cannot be seen in Figs. 1 and 2. The cooled air flowing through the air duct 30 can flow out of the air duct 30 via the second through opening.
The cooled air flowing out of the air duct 30 via the second through opening can flow against at least a portion of the bottle 26, so that the bottle 26 is cooled by the air cooled by the air conditioning system. In other words, the air cooled by the air conditioning system can be guided to the bottle 26 by means of the air duct 30, thus the air cooled by the air conditioning system can cool the bottle 26 and the beverage contained within the bottle 26.
By incorporating the beverage holding device 23 and the cooling device 28 into the interior door panelling assembly 16, a very space-efficient and particularly beneficial storage and cooling of the bottle 26 can be realised, as the interior door panelling assembly 16 can be adapted to the storage and cooling of the bottle 26 very easily in comparison with the instrument panel. As can be seen from Fig. 1, the beverage holding device 23 comprises a storage compartment 34 for the beverage container in the form of the bottle 26. As can be seen from Fig. 2, the storage compartment 22 follows the storage compartment 34 in the longitudinal direction of the sidedoor 10 and thus of the vehicle rearwards.
The beverage holding device 23 also comprises at least one closing element 36 which is movable between a closing position shown in Fig. 1 and 2 and at least one open position not shown in any of the figures. In the closing position the storage compartment 34 is closed at least partially towards the interior of the vehicle. In the open position the storage compartment 34 is opened at least partially towards the interior comparing to the closing position. In the first embodiment of the interior door panelling assembly 16 shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the closing element 36 at least indirectly is pivotably coupled to the interior trim element 18 about a pivot axis, the pivot axis substantially extending in the longitudinal direction of the side door 10.
Fig. 3 shows the interior door panelling assembly 16 having the interior trim element 18 and the beverage holding device 23, wherein the closing element 36 is positioned in its open position. In the open position, the bottle 26 can be reached by a passenger being in the interior of the vehicle from the top. As can be seen from Figs. 1 to 3, in the first and second embodiment the beverage holding device 23 is configured in such a way that it allows for a substantially vertical holding of the bottle 26. Such a vertical holding is possible because the arm rest 20 is arranged quite high.
Fig. 4 shows a side door 10 with an interior door panelling assembly 16 in a third embodiment. As can be seen from Fig. 4, the arm rest 20 of the interior trim element 18 is arranged quite low comparing to the first and second embodiment. In order to realise a space-efficient storage of the bottle 26, the beverage holding device 23 according to the third embodiment is configured in such a way that it allows for a substantially horizontal storage and holding of the bottle 26.
In the first, second and third embodiment the closing element 36 is formed as a front side flap pivotably and at least indirectly coupled to the interior trim element 18 so that it can be pivoted between the closing position and the open position.
Fig. 5 shows the interior panelling assembly 16 in a fourth embodiment, in which the closing element 36 is formed as a sliding element in the form of a sliding door which is movable translationally relative to the interior trim element 18 in the longitudinal direction of the side door 10, as can be seen by a direction arrow 38 illustrating the sliding direction of the sliding door.
The beverage holding device 23 can also comprise at least one adjustment element not shown in any of the figures, the holding element 24 being adaptable to different sizes of beverage containers by means of the adjustment element.
Fig. 6 shows a flow diagram illustrating the flow of the air coaled by the air conditioning system from the air conditioning system to the storage compartment 34 and against the bottle 26. In Fig. 6, the air conditioning system is schematically shown and designated with reference 40. For example, the air conditioning system 40 comprises at least one blowing device by means of which the cooled air can be conveyed through the further air duct of the instrument panel which is schematically shown and designated with reference 42. Then, the air flows from the further air duct into the air duct 30 extending within the interior door trim element 18. The cooled air flows out of the air duct 30 by means of the second through opening, thus the cooled air can flow into the storage compartment 34 and against the bottle 26.
By storing the bottle 26 on the side door 10 installation space in the area of the instrument panel can be created. In particular, a storage compartment of a glove box of the instrument panel is not influenced by storing the bottle 26 and can be configured with a very high capacity. By adapting the orientation of the bottle 26 held by the holding element 24 to the respective designs of the interior door trim element 18, a very space-efficient storage of the bottle 26 can be realised. Furthermore, an obstruction of the hand of a passenger operating a window lift whether by means of an electric motor or manually can be avoided. Additionally, an impairment of the ergonomics of the arm rest 20, for example, an inclination of the arm rest 20 towards the front can be avoided.
