Abstract
250,688. Stone & Co., Ltd., J., (Bolton, C. J. H.). Jan. 20, 1925. Electrically-operated fastenings for railway carriage doors, of the type in which a rocking lever b is actuated by one or other of a pair of solenoids a, a<1>, to move a rod d connected to a bolt on each door of the carriage. Each solenoid has a press-button switch in its circuit which can be momentarily closed to bring about the fastening or unfastening operation. The rocking lever may be locked in position by a projection n on a lever l which is raised by a magnet n<1> energized when either of the solenoid circuits is closed. A lamp j may be provided to indicate when the doors are locked, and is illuminated when the lever is in position to shoot the bolts. A switch, Fig. 7, may also be provided which is connected with the emergency brake system, so that when the brakes are applied a lever s is depressed, bringing contacts p, p<3> on a lever o on to terminals r, r<1>, and so closing the circuit of the solenoid which releases the bolts.
