Abstract

A tidal power generator collects water in a reservoir which can move up and down. The level of the empty reservoir is maintained by springs. The reservoir is connected to the sea by a flexible air-tight pipe that is submerged in water in the reservoir at low tide level. As the tide rises, water fills the container/reservoir, and the weight of water pushes the container down which pulls a weight up by a hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical e.g. pulley system. The weight is then connected to a power generator to produce electricity. Constant output can be maintained by a hydraulic mechanism. When the tide goes down, the water leaves the container through the air-tight pipe under siphon effect, and the container rises up to its initial level under spring force.

Description

LUNAR POWER
Basic Idea: Conversion of gravitational forces of moon, sun and earth into electrical energy.
Basic Principle: Sea water at high tide is stored and its weight is used to generate potential energy which is then converted into kinetic energy for driving power generating equipment.
Stored water goes back to the sea, under siphon effect, at low tide and cycle is repeated at high tide.
Basic Process Description
Water is collected in a reservoir which can move up and down. Level of empty reservoir maintained by springs and is deteimined by the levd of low tide. A flexible air-tight pipe is kept submerged in water in the reservoir at low tide level. The water fills the container when the tide rises. The weight of water pushes the container down which in turn pushes the "power generating weight" up which is connected through hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical system. Once the weight is up then "raising system" is disconnected and "power generating system" is connected to produce electricity.
Weight comes down and provides the force to drive the power generator through geanng mechanism (generating hydraulic pressure and using hydraulic motor for power generation is also an option). Constant speed is maintained through hydraulic mechanism.
When the tide goes down the water starts going out of the container under siphon effect and container rises up to previous level under spring pressure. The cycle is repeated with the sea tides.
Example Calculations: Water container size: radius = Sm, height = 7m Water volume when tilled up to Sm = x x 7 = 549.77 m3 1m3 = 1000 Lit -water weighs 1000Kg Weight of water = 549.77 x 1000 =549770 kg (appx 550000kg) Gravity = 9.8 m/s Force = 549770 x 9.8 = 5387831 N (Force is sufficient to push 55000 kg weight up to a height of 50 metre).
Container weighing 550000Kg moves Sm downward and pushes 10 times less weight SOm upward.
Capacity Unlimited capacity can be achieved by replicating system as virtually unlimited quantity of sea water is available.
