Abstract

250,072. Fairweather, H. G. C., (Miller, T.). July 9, 1925. Infusers.-Coffee-making apparatus includes a cup-like receptacle 1 for the ground coffee, having a perforated bottom 3 and an annular outwardly extending flange 6 on its upper end adapted to rest on the rim of the coffee pot 5, together with a boiling water receiver 8 having open ends, the lower end 9 fitting telescopically within the receptacle 1. The receiver 8 has a removable lid 10, and a perforated water distributing plate 13 having a convex portion surrounded by a flat part, the plate being disposed so as to come about the top of the receptacle 1 when the parts are assembled. In the construction described, the bottom 3 of the receptacle 1 is covered with a circular filter-sheet 16 of cotton, paper &c., which is clamped in position, after the coffee 2 has been added to the receptacle 1, by telescoping the end 9 of the boiling water receiver 8 within the receptacle 1, the friction between these parts enabling the receptacle 1 to be removed from the pot by lifting the receiver 8. A vent 12 is provided in the wall of the receptacle to allow escape of air during assemblage. The flange 6 of the receptacle 1 has a groove 7 for fitting on the rim of the pot 5. The plate 13 is secured in a groove 15 in the receiver 1. The lid 10 has a vent 11 and a handle 19, and is formed with a central recess so that, when it is removed and inverted, the receptacle 1 can be rested therein after removal from the pot.
