Abstract

Vehicle lamps, directing; anti-vibration devices. - In means for directing vehicle lamps one at a time from the steering-gear, a transverse rotatable shaft 10, connected by a crank 15 and a rod 16 to the steering-lever, is provided with segmental gears 17, 18, one or other of which comes into mesh with corresponding bevel gears 19, 20, on the lower ends of the rotatable lamp brackets 21 according as a right or a left turn is being made. The brackets 21 are mounted in bushings 24, 25 in fixed casings 23, which are held against the hubs of the gears 19, 20, by thrust collars 26. The portion of the brackets 21 between the bushings 24, 25, is reduced and surrounded by an anti-vibration spring 27 attached at opposite ends to the casing 23 and the bracket 21. To render the lamp turning mechanism inoperative, the shaft 10 comprises a clutch mechanism 30, 31, operated from the driver's seat, the part 30, having a hexagonal opening slidably engaging a hexagonal head on one portion of the shaft and being provided with pins adapted to engage corresponding apertures in the part 31 fixed on the adjacent portion of the shaft. When the clutch members are disengaged, the main portion of the shaft 10 is supported by a hanger 36 depending from a casing 23. The bearings 11, 12 for the shaft 10 and the supporting angled members 28 for the casings 23 are carried by the channel-members 13 of the vehicle frame.
