Abstract

A bank card comprises two chips 14 situated at either end to use s a credit card at one end and a debit card at the other. Each chip 14 may be in the conventional location and the card may be rotated so that both chips can be used in existing credit or debit card reader technologies. The reverse of the card may have two magnetic strips (21, fig 4) and a conventional signature strip (22, fig 4). The chip 14 may be an integrated circuit (IC). The card may add flexibility of payment methods and allow credit and debit transactions on the same card.

Description

DUO CARD
This invention relates to a Dual-PUrPOSe use Debit/Credit card.
When using a traditional credit or debit card you currently have to use two separate conventional cards.
To overcome using two cards, if you had a card which had two chips in the same position (one at either end), when rotating the card in either clockwise or anti clockwiSe direction, one being for debit transactions and the other for credit card transactions.
The design of the duo card utilises existing card reading technology with each chip in the exact location currently used, this is also present when the card is rotated to use either end of card.
if the DUO CARD were created it would negate the need to carry additional cards, adding flexibility of payment method, one for debit and one for credit transactions.
Also adding extra security with only one number to call if lost or stolen.
The long-term production costs of the card would be reduced, as fewer cards would need to be produced as the card has dual function facility.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring tO the accompanying drawings in which: * Figure 1 shows the front of the card with both chips and layout of how the DUO CARD will look.
* Figure 2 shows the reverse of the card jndjcating the two magnetic strips.
* Figure 3 shows an outline drawing of figure 1 jndicating location of the layout of information required of use.
* Figure 4 shows an outline drawing of figure 2 indicating magnetic strips and signature strip.
The mock-up of the DUO CARD in figure one indicates the information and layout specification requi red to create a new duo purpose debit/credit card, there are two numbers listed for each of the sides of the cards (mirroring each end of the card), listed below is numbered label sequence, Figure 1.
