Abstract

249,084. Metal & Thermit Corporation, (Assignees of Schwartz, K. W.). March 10, 1925, [Convention date]. Leading-in wires consist of a core, having a coefficient of expansion less than that of glass, surrounded by a sheath of chromium. The sheath may be deposited electrolytically on a core of nickel-steel, which may first be coated with copper or brass. After the sheath is applied, the wire may be subjected to heat treatment to remove adsorbed gases, for example by immersion for some minutes in an oil bath at 600‹ F.
