Protectors, securing.-A heel pad G, Fig. 2, is grooved at H at the forward end to engage a similarly short grooved plate A, Fig. 1, permanently attached to a heel. The side grooves B are connected by a cross ridge C at the breast of the heel and a ridge or catch D is arranged at the back of the plate A to engage a recess J in the pad. The pad is sprung over the ridge D in attachment. The pad may further be attached to the heel by screws. In a modification the plate A does not reach to the end of the heel, but is countersunk into the pad G, and in a further modification, Figs. 16 and 17, the plate A is notched at M to engage the pad G suitably grooved at N. Alternatively, the plate A, Fig. 21, is entirely concealed within the pad G. The ridge D may be replaced by, a more or less U- shaped clip or clips D, Fig. 22, which engage corresponding recesses in the heel pad.
