Cells; separators; supports for electrodes.- The container of an accumulator is enlarged at its upper end, the busbars n, o to which the plates are attached being situated in the enlarged part to allow the separators to be removed without removing the plates. The container may be made of moulded glass and is provided with integral feet b and ledges c from which the plates are suspended, the ledges being divided by ribs f which separate the plate lugs of opposite polarity. The separators p may be of wood or ebonite and may be held in position by being passed through slits in wood rods q having pins r which rest on the plates. The separators are held down by rods s secured by clips t on the plates. The terminal lugs k may be of different lengths to indicate the polarity. The cover rests on ledges 9 and is bevelled at i to form a trough to receive sealing compound. A space is left between one of the end plates and the container to receive a hydrometer v. Specifications 22639/92 and 10766/12 are referred to.
