Abstract

248,132. Colston, A. A. Dec. 23, 1924. Boxes designed to be of variable capacity.-A box, trunk, &c. comprises upper and lower sections A, C and one or more removable intermediate sections 13 adapted to be secured together by bolts 3, 4 engaging screwed sockets 1 fixed, at the corners of the sections. The bolts 4, which secure together the intermediate section B. and the lower section C are turned either by a handle engaged in square sockets in the ends of the bolts or by square spigots on the bolts 3 of the upper section A. The upper bolts 3 are turned by square rods 6 projecting from pinions 7, a pair of these pinions being turned simultaneously by means of a rack or endless chain 9 connected to a slide 10 which may constitute one member of the usual trunk fastening. An endless chain may be arranged to operate all four sets of bolts simultaneously.
