248,065. Cheesman, R. S. Nov. 26, 1924. Helicopters; propelling; balancing; tanks, arrangement of.-A helicopter comprises a platform 1 beneath which the propelling gear is arranged in order to keep the centre of gravity low, balance being maintained by the aviator inclining himself or exerting a force upon a vertical post 4 mounted on the platform. The engine control gear and fuel tank 3 are mounted upon the post 4. An engine 2 drives a bevel wheel 8 through a belt 5 and the wheel 8 gears with two bevel wheels 9, 10 which are mounted on two concentric sleeves connected to oppositely rotating propellers 6, 7. The sleeves rotate about a fixed shaft 12. A wind screen may be provided on a frame 15. Skids. - The machine is supported on the ground by feet 14 secured to the platform or by a plate secured to the lower end of the shaft 12.
