Abstract

Depositing machines; feeding.-A " piping" machine for forming and decorating sweetmeats, of the type wherein the plastic material is mixed in a hopper and is passed under pressure to a flexible extrusion bag, is characterized by the forcing-means being directly connected to the mixer. As shown in Fig. 2, the material is mixed by paddles 8<a> in a jacketed hopper which has a conical lower portion leading to a chamber 12<a> which contains the propeller 12<b> or like forcing-means. The propeller 12b is mounted on a shaft 10 which is jcurnaled in a block 11 positioned between the diverging outlets 13 of the chamber 12a. The outlets 13 lead to extensions 16 of rubber, fabric, or other suitable flexible material, to the ends of which are secured screwed members for the attachment of the valved nozzle-members. The nozzle valves each comprises a sliding plate 20 which is operated by a lever 20<a>, engageable by a finger and connected to the slide 20 by a link 21. A spring 22 normally keeps the valve closed. The jacket of the hopper may be open at the bottom and heated by a gas-ring 7, or a closed jacket for a heating or cooling medium may be provided.
