Abstract
246,512. Lederer, O., and Stanczak, W. Jan. 24, 1925, [Convention date]. Silica. - Aluminium salts are obtained from aluminous materials such as clays by heating the clay under pressure in an autoclave with sodium carbonate solution, and then refrigerating the reaction mixture before opening the autoclave. The product consists of the original sodium carbonate solution which is recovered substantially unchanged, and the aluminous material which has been so changed that the alumina is readily soluble in acids such as sulphuric acid, leaving a residue of silica. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the clay may be treated in the autoclave with caustic alkali solution instead of sodium carbonate, carbonic acid being afterwards supplied. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
