Abstract

246,396. White, F. W. Aug. 21, 1925. Vehicle lamps.-In a vehicle lamp a forwardly extending reflecting hood 5 of circular cross-section is secured to the front of a paraboloidal reflecting. lamp casing 1, as by means of spun screw threads 11, and located in the lower portions of the hood and lamp casing are a series of transversely arranged auxiliary reflectors 15 which are preferably extended upwardly on one side of the lamp. The auxiliary reflectors .15 have their reflecting surfaces inclined away from the source of light 2 and co-operate with the upper portion of the hood 5 to reflect downwardly on to the road surface rays of light which would otherwise be reflected upwardly from the lower portions of the hood and lamp casing. The upper and lower halves 3, 4 of the lamp casing may be constructed integrally or from two sheetmetal stampings, and the auxiliary reflectors 15 may comprise separate plates secured in position as by means of spot welding or they may be formed by integral indentures of the hood and lamp casing.
