Abstract

A ladder support comprising a thick base 4 and an embedded "T" shaped steel block. The raised portion of the block 3 is designed to provide lateral support for the ladder legs.

Description

Ladder Pal, safety device.
This invention is designed to allow safe solitary use of a ladder.
The accompanying diagram is fairly self explanatory.
A T' shaped blade is embedded into the centre of a piece of thick square shaped rubber. This acts as a stop for the ladder to stop it moving backwards, and the rubber base stops the ladder from moving sideways. The compression of the rubber on the base of the steel T' section guarantess the ladder will not be moving anywhere when in use, and makes the user of the ladder much safer.
When you know you have a solid base and support, you will be more comfortable in carrying out any operations on ladders.

Claims (3)

  1. Ladder Pal safety device.Claims.1. This safety device should allow greater flexibility in the use of ladders without the requirement of a second person to hold the base of the ladder. It is very simple in design and comprises a T' shaped piece of stainless steel embedded into a rubber matt. This should entirely put a stop to injuries caused from faslling from ladders. The ladder compresses the rubber, and creates pressure on the rubber matt, and the steel plate above and behind it stops it from moving in any direction. This is a very simple design, but also very effective, and should ensure less visits to hospital, broken limbs, or even death, that has been prevalent in life previously. Unsupported ladders are dangerous, but they not be now with this invention! Amendments to the claims were filed as follows Ladder Pal safety device Claims, (amended) 1. This safety device is very simple in construction, operation, use, and storage. It is a piece of rubber, approx 3/4 of an inch thick, by approximately 13 inches in length, by approx. 3 inches wider than a conventional ladder base.(approx. 15 inches wide) It has a stainless steel fin inserted or embedded and glued into its centre point, making it multi-directional, and that is it.It can be rolled up when not in use, for ease of storage and carrying, and as it is not a rigid construction, will be more flexible in use, ie; it will dispel surface unevenness to some degree.
  2. 2. The fact that this device is made of rubber makes it safe not only for ladder users, but also for storage, or if it should be dropped by the user. Its rubber construction makes it ideal for rolling up, and wont hurt anyone should it land on their feet, as well as this of course, it is excellent for keeping ladders in one place whilst in use. Window cleaners and the like already have enough kit to carry on their jobs, and thus, something that can be rolled up and put into a bucket, or a belt loop, would be much more advantageous to the person using the device.
  3. 3. This device would be ideally suited for mass production as it is very simple and efficient. It is simply a piece of rubber, 13 inches by 15 inches, and has a stainless steel inverted T' shaped fin inserted at its centre. The ladder when resting upon this device will compress the rubber beneath it, and will grip any surface it happens to be placed upon. This device would be very simple and easy to use, and very cheap to produce, as it is simplicity itself on all counts. le; in production, in use, and when not in use. This device would also be hardwearing as its construction will not harden, or weaken, or become warped through changes in weather conditions. There are no nails to work loose, or screws to go rusty, simply steel and rubber and adhesive. * S. * . * S. ** * S _.*I. -. a.S*0' *,5 a * S. *-SS
