Description
Method for processing burley tobacco in blended type cigarette
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a method for processing tobacco, especially a method for processing burley tobacco in a blended type cigarette with burley tobacco leaves as an important ingredient.
Background Art
Burley tobacco leaves are an important ingredient of blended type cigarettes. The existing method for processing blended type cigarettes is shown in Fig. 1, and mainly comprises: A processing section for making laminas by separately processing burley tobacco leaves and flue-cured tobacco leaves, in which the steps for processing burley tobacco leaves are: cutting tobacco leaves -loosening and conditioning -* storing leaves -* heating and humidifying burley tobacco -* casing burley tobacco -roasting burley tobacco in a roaster (comprising three sub-steps: drying, cooling and conditioning) -* storing leaves, and processing flue-cured tobacco lamina; A processing section for making shreds: blending the processed flue-cured tobacco lamina and the processed burley tobacco lamina, then processing the blended tobacco laminas by the following steps in order: heating -p cutting into shreds heating and humidifying the shreds -p drying the shreds; A processing section for blending shreds and flavoring: blending the dried blended shreds with expanded shreds, stem shreds and sheet shreds in a desired proportion flavoring - storing shreds.
In accordance with the provisions prescribed in the Cigarette Processing Technology Specification issued by the Chinese State Tobacco Monopoly Bureau, the main mission for the processing section for making laminas is: improving aroma and after-taste of burley tobacco laminas, reducing offensive odors and irritancies in order to meet the requirement of product design by processing burley tobacco laminas via casing and roasting steps; the main mission for the processing section for making shreds is: blending flue-cured tobacco laminas with burley tobacco laminas, cutting into shreds, drying the shreds to remove an amount of water in order to meet the following process requirement; and the main mission for the processing section for blending shreds is: blending the dried blended shreds with expanded shreds, stem shreds and sheet shreds in a desired proportion, flavoring and storing to complete the whole shred-making process.
However, the existing method for processing burley tobacco in blended type cigarettes has the following problems: (1) In the existing section for making burley tobacco laminas, casing and roasting are directed to burley tobacco, but in the following section for making shreds, the burley tobacco laminas and flue-cured tobacco laminas are mixed, cut and dried, so that the existing classification processing of burley tobacco is not thoroughly performed. In addition, the existing burley tobacco processing flow employs a model of blending burley tobacco, cutting and drying, and thus fundamentally restricts the possibility for further drying the treated burley tobacco shreds in classes and in groups.
(2) In the existing method, the step of casing burley tobacco is set in the processing section for making laminas. Although Chinese Patent Application No.03126105.1 (Publication No. CN1457708) titled with "Method for processing burley tobacco lamina" discloses a method comprising two casing steps, both the two casing steps are performed in the section for processing laminas. In accordance with the physical properties of tobacco, laminas have a smaller specific surface area than shreds and thus are more compact and have more waxy chemicals per unit area, moreover, a relatively large amount of casing is added to burley tobacco, so that liquid stuffs can hardly be absorbed sufficiently and all materials can hardly be mixed uniformly.
(3) in order to allow the physicochemical properties of laminas to meet the requirements for processing cigarettes after burley tobacco roasting, the existing burley tobacco roaster employs a "slow-roasting" process comprising drying, cooling and conditioning steps. However, since the offensive odors to be removed from burley tobacco laminas usually have a relatively slow permeability rate in dry hot air, the whole processing period is relatively long, so that the roasted tobacco laminas nearly lose all moistures, hich results in excessive processing and carbonization phenomenon of burley tobacco..
(4) The existing roasting apparatus for roasting burley tobacco laminas has disadvantages such as large space occupation, complex roasting process, poor control precision of process, etc. For example, the existing roasting apparatus usually has a total length of over 26 meters, in which a drying section is divided into three regions, a cooling section is divided into two regions, and a conditioning section is divided into four regions. In the whole roasting process, stuffs keep at a static state relative to a belt conveyer so that the stuffs can hardly be heated uniformly. In addition, the existing roaster employs a processing model in which the temperatures of those regions are controlled manually to meet the moisture requirement of the roasted tobacco laminas, so that the response time for moisture control is relatively long and thus the control precision of moisture in tobacco laminas is poor.
(5) In the existing method, burley tobacco and flue-cured tobacco iaminas are blended, cut and dried, and the drying step is performed by using same process parameters and manner and in the same drum, so that the re-carbonization of burley tobacco may very easily occur during the processing, and the dried burley tobacco ingredient is significantly different from the flue-cured tobacco ingredient in moisture content.
(6) In the existing method, burley tobacco undergoes both a step for roasting laminas and a step for drying shreds of blended burley tobacco and flue-cured tobacco and undergoes both a step of blending laminas and a step of blending shreds, so that the method employs a complex and rigid process.
Contents of the Invention The present invention provides a method directed to the processing properties of burley tobacco for overcoming the above disadvantages, in which the burley tobacco is processed to improve the sensory quality of a blended type cigarette, and the method employs a simple and flexible process for processing burley tobacco.
One embodiment of the present invention is to provide a method for processing burley tobacco in a blended type cigarette, comprising a processing section for making burley tobacco laminas, a processing section for making burley tobacco shreds, and a processing section for blending shreds. The processing section for making burley tobacco laminas comprises the following steps: (1) Cutting burley tobacco; (2) Loosening and conditioning by conveying the cut burley tobacco lumps into a loosening conditioner for heating and humidifying; (3) Screening the loosened burley tobacco laminas and treating the laminas by a casing process, in which the moisture of the laminas is controlled within a range of 22%-28%, the temperature of the laminas is controlled within a range of 5O°C-'.6O°C, and the casing amount is 20%-30% of the amount of burley tobacco; (4) Conveying the burley tobacco laminas treated by the casing process to a storage chamber and storing in order to mix the laminas and liquid materials uniformly and to balance moisture and the liquid materials.
The processing section for making burley tobacco shreds comprises the following steps: (1) Cutting the treated burley tobacco larninas into burley tobacco shreds; (2) Conveying the burley tobacco shreds to a roll and treating the burley tobacco shreds by a casing process, in which the casing amount is 5%-40% of the amount of burley tobacco; (3) roasting the treated burley tobacco shreds to dry, in which the roasting temperature is controlled at I 30°C-260°C, the moisture of the treated shreds is controlled at 4%-i 2%, and the temperature of the treated shreds is controlled at 55°C-105°C; (4) Subjecting the burley tobacco shreds that have been roasted to have a moisture of 4%-12% to a conditioning process, a surface casing process, or a conditioning and surface casing process, in which the temperature is controlled at 55°C-75°C.
The processing section for blending shreds comprises: blending the burley tobacco shreds with other components as used in preparing a blended type cigarette.
In the method for processing burley tobacco in a blended type cigarette, in the step (2) of the processing section for making burley tobacco shreds, after the casing process, the moisture of the shreds may be controlled at 24%-32%, and the temperature may be controlled at 45°C-35°C.
In the method for processing burley tobacco in blended type cigarette, in the step (4) of the processing section for making burley tobacco shreds, the amount of the surface casing is preferably I %-5% of the amount of the burley tobacco, and the moisture of the treated shreds is preferably controlled at 12%O.5.
In one preferred embodiment, the processing section for blending shreds comprises: blending the burley tobacco shreds with flue-cured tobacco shreds, expanded shreds, stem shreds and sheet shreds.
In the present invention, the burley tobacco in blended type cigarette is processed and treated as a sole formulation module, and the burley tobacco is solely processed and treated through the whole procedure from the process for making laminas to the process for making shreds. The treatment of burley tobacco, such as the casing of burley tobacco is performed stepwise, i.e., 20%-30% casing liquids are added during the section for making laminas, 5%-lO% casing liquids are added after cutting the laminas into shreds; and l%-5% casing liquids are preferably added during the conditioning process or the surface casing process. The roasting process of burley tobacco is performed after cutting the laminas into shreds. Instead of the existing process of roasting burley tobacco laminas, the burley tobacco shreds are roasted and dried, and the moisture and temperature of the shreds at the outlet are subjected to a feedback control. The existing route for processing burley tobacco is changed, and a process of blending shreds is adopted. Thus, different parameters and routes for processing burley tobaccos in a grouping manner can be selected based on the requirements of different products and the properties of different burley tobaccos, so that the processed burley tobaccos have the following benefit effects and advantages: (1) During the procedure from the process for making laminas to the process for making shreds, burley tobaccos are processed as a single formulation module in accordance with the differences between flue-cured tobaccos and burley tobaccos in terms of quality, property and processing characteristics, which not only meets the requirements for processing burley tobaccos and flue-cured tobaccos thoroughly in grouping manner, but also meets the requirements for roasting burley tobacco shreds in grouping manner, while these facilitate the improvement and elevation of the sensory quality of blended type cigarettes and further reduce hazardous indexes of blended type cigarette products, such as tar delivery, nicotine content, etc. (2) As compared with the existing method in which the casing of burley tobacco is performed only in the process for making laminas, when the casing liquids of burley tobacco are proportionally added stepwise, i.e., separately added during the section for making laminas and the section for making shreds, the burley tobacco absorbs the case liquids more sufficiently and uniformly during the processing procedure.
(3) Instead of the existing process of roasting burley tobacco laminas, when the burley tobacco shreds are roasted, the shreds are at a relative motion state and receive heat more uniformly, so that the offensive odors and irritants in the shreds are removed more efficiently, the burley tobacco fragrance characteristics are more prominent, and the moisture and temperature of the shreds is controlled more precisely during the process.
(4) The requirements for processing burley tobaccos in a grouping manner can be met by choosing different parameters and routes based on the requirement of different products and the qualities and properties of different burley tobaccos, which means the reduction of carbonization phenomenon and differences of moisture and temperature of ingredients in comparison with the existing process, so that the burley tobacco fragrance characteristics are more prominent.
(5) As compared to the existing process, the working procedure for processing burley tobacco is simplified, the whole production line is short, smooth and flexible, the investments for devices and workshop are reduced, and the economic benefit is elevated notably.
