Abstract
The invention relates to a prefabricated reinforced concrete house 1 comprising a foundation formed by reinforced concrete beams 6 spanning between piles 5 in the ground. Prefabricated reinforced concrete floor panels 11 are mounted on the beams 6 to form a floor. Upstanding pre-cast reinforced concrete wall panels 16 form inner side walls of the house 1. Triangular gables 26 formed by reinforced concrete panels 27, 28, 29 are mounted on top of opposite side walls and a roof is mounted between the gables 26. Foam insulating panels (40 figure 4) are fitted to an exterior of the side walls and an outer side wall (45 figure 4) is then constructed outside the foam panels and parallel to the inner side walls. The interior of the house 1 can be fitted out as required and may be subdivided into separate rooms by stud partition walls.

-1 -"A House"
Introduction
This invention relates to house construction.
Statements of Invention
According to the invention, there is provided a method for constructing a reinforced concrete house, including the steps:
mounting or forming a number of spaced-apart base supports in or on the ground,
mounting a number of prefabricated reinforced concrete beams spanning between said base supports for forming a foundation frame,
forming a floor on the foundation frame by fitting a plurality of prefabricated reinforced concrete floor panels across the top of the foundation frame, each floor panel extending between spaced-apart beams of the foundation frame,
constructing an inner house wall comprising a number of juxtaposed pre-cast reinforced concrete wall panels mounted upstanding on the foundation frame and/or the floor panels,
mounting a pair of gables on opposite side walls extending upwardly therefrom, each gable comprising one or more prefabricated reinforced concrete panels,
constructing a roof between the gables,
fitting a number of foam insulation panels to an exterior of the wall panels,
constructing an outer wall substantially parallel to the inner wall and spaced-apart therefrom outside the insulation panels,
-2-
installing a number of windows and doors in associated opes formed in the walls, and
5 fitting out an interior of the house, as required, optionally sub-dividing the interior by means of internal partition walls.
In one embodiment of the invention, the method includes incorporating service channels within the wall panels for through passage of electrical and/or plumbing 10 services.
In another embodiment, the floor panels are hollow core floor panels.
In a further embodiment, an inside face of each wall panel has a smooth surface 15 finish ready to accept a decorative finish such as paint or wallpaper applied to said surface.
In another embodiment, the method includes interlocking the beams at each end where they engage with adjacent beams.
20
In another embodiment, a plurality of floor panels are mounted across the tops of the wall panels.
In a further embodiment, a second floor of the house is constructed by mounting a 25 number of wall panels upstanding on the ground floor wall panels.
In another embodiment, a number of reinforcing members are mounted between the gables.
30 Conveniently, the outer wall may be constructed of bricks or blocks in conventional fashion. In an alternative arrangement, outer cladding panels may be provided to form the outer wall. If desired, an outer face of the cladding panels may be decorated to simulate a block or brick wall or other desired facade.
In a further embodiment, the internal partition walls may be conveniently provided by stud partition walls which enable the interior of the house to be sub-divided into a number of rooms of any desired shape and size.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The invention will be more clearly understood by the following description of some embodiments thereof, given by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a partially constructed house according to the invention;
Fig. 2 is another perspective view of the house;
Fig. 3 is a further perspective view of the house, partially constructed and cutaway to show the interior;
Fig. 4 is a detail sectional elevational view showing portion of the foundation, floor and side wall of the house; and
Fig. 5 is a detail side sectional elevational view showing portion of the side wall of the house.
Referring to the drawings, there is illustrated a reinforced concrete house according to the invention, indicated generally by the reference numeral 1. The house 1 essentially has a frame or skeleton formed from a number of pre-cast reinforced concrete elements.
A number of spaced-apart base supports, in this case, reinforced concrete piles 5, are driven into the ground. Prefabricated reinforced concrete beams 6 are mounted across the tops of the piles 5 spanning between the piles 5 and forming a foundation frame in an endless rectangular ring. It will be noted that the beams have stepped ends 7, 8 for interlocking the beams 6 where they engage with adjacent beams 6.
A floor, indicated generally by the reference numeral 10, is formed on the foundation frame formed by the beams 6 by fitting a plurality of prefabricated reinforced concrete floor panels 11 across the top of the foundation frame. Each floor panel 11 extends between spaced-apart beams 6 at opposite sides of the foundation frame.
An inner house wall, indicated generally by the reference numeral 15, is formed by mounting a number of pre-cast reinforced concrete wall panels 16 upstanding on the foundation frame. It will be noted that a number of the wall panels 16 have opes to provide window opes 17 and door opes 18, these opes 17, 18 being integrally formed with the panels 16.
In the drawings, the house 1 is shown with a ground floor 20 and a first floor 21. The first floor 21 is formed by mounting further floor panels 11 across the top of the wall panels 16 to form a floor for the first floor 21 and ceiling for the ground floor 20. A stairway opening 24 is formed by a pair of spaced-apart channel section beams 25 between which additional floor panels 26 are mounted perpendicular to the other floor panels 11 and leaving the opening 24 for insertion of a stairway. Additional wall panels 16 are mounted upstanding on the first floor floor panels 11 and tops of the ground floor wall panels 16, as can be seen in the drawings.
Additional floor panels 11 may be mounted spanning across the tops of the upper floor 21 wall panels 16. Gables 26 are mounted on opposite side walls extending upwardly therefrom. Each gable 26 comprises three prefabricated reinforced concrete panels 27, 28, 29. A metal reinforcing frame 30 may be mounted between the gables 26 to secure the gables 26 in place. Any other suitable interconnection or mounting of the gables 26 may be provided. A roof can then be constructed on the gables 26.
A number of foam insulation panels 40 are fitted to an exterior of the wall panels 16. It will be appreciated that this is readily easily done, as the outer face of the wall panel 16 is exposed. Therefore, the insulation panels 40 can be readily easily and accurately fitted to fully cover all external walls of the house 1.
-5-
An outer wall 45 is constructed outside the insulation panels 40 spaced-apart from the inner wall and substantially parallel thereto. This outer wall 45 may be a block or brick wall, or alternatively could be formed by cladding panels of any suitable design.
5 A number of windows and doors can be mounted in the associated opes 17, 18 formed in the walls.
An interior of the house 1 can be fitted out as required. If desired, the interior can be sub-divided by internal stud partition walls.
10
Fig. 4 shows a beam 6 mounted on a pile 5. Reinforcing rods 50 project upwardly from the pile 5 into an opening 51 formed in the beam 6 to key the beam 6 and pile 5 together, the opening 51 being backfilled with concrete after assembly of the beam 6 on the pile 5.
15
Fig. 5 shows the arrangement at the first floor connection between the lower wall panel 16, floor panel 11 and upper wall panel 16. A reinforcing bar 55 extends through the panels 11, 16 to tie them together.
20 The invention is not limited to the embodiments hereinbefore described which may be varied in both construction and detail within the scope of the appended claims.
