Abstract

The diesel fuel tank safety insert when fitted into the neck of a diesel fuel tank of a motor vehicle, has angled lugs fig 5 which will prevent the petrol filler nozzle from entering into the fuel tank. The larger diesel fuel nozzle when inserted will open the angled lugs 7 allowing it to enter the neck fully therefore allowing the correct fuel to be entered into the vehicle. The device may be used with any type of diesel fuel cap fittings.

DESCRIPTION
This invention is to prevent the insertion of petrol into a diesel motor vehicle. In order to overcome this problem this device will be fitted into the neck of a diesel motor vehicle fuel tank. There are angled tugs located on the bottom of the device which will prevent the petrol filler nozzle from entering into the fuel tank.
The larger diesel filler nozzle will open the angled lugs allowing the nozzle to enter the fuel tank. Making sure the correct fuel has been entered into a motor vehicle.
The device may be used with any type of diesel fuel cap fitting.
DRAWINGS
Fig 1 shows a side view of the fuel tank insert which has been adapted to fit into a fuel tank with a threaded fuel cap system. Nol are the threads which screw into the neck of the tank. No2 shows the angled lugs which prevent the access of the petrol filler nozzle. These are also shown on Fig 2.
Fig 3 shows a side view of the fuel tank insert having been adapted to fit into a fuel tank with a lockable fuel cap. No3 is showing the locking tugs for installing the device into this type of fuel tank. No4 is showing the slot which will enable the locking fuel cap lugs to lock. No5 is shown on Fig 5as an enlarged picture of the angled lug system.
Fig 5 This shows the actual system which prevents the entry of the petrol nozzle by the design of the angled lugs No6. The diameter of the diesel nozzle being of a greater size presses on the angle No7 and pushes the lugs to the side allowing full entry of the nozzle and allowing the fuel to enter the tank. * 3

Claims (3)
