Abstract

245,568. Stephenson, C. Y. March 12, 1925. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Guarding against unauthorized use.-The steering hand-wheel may be locked against rotation by an arm pivoted to the fixed steering tube or column and provided with a locking member adapted to embrace one of the spokes. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the arm 1 is pivoted by a rivet 13 to lugs 14 on a two part member 3 adapted to be permanently clamped as by rivets 9a to the fixed steering column. The other end of the arm 1 is provided with U-shaped locking members c, d adapted to embrace a spoke of the wheel. The arm 1 when not in use may bs held by a spring clip 16. In one alternative construction, the hinge 13 is arranged radially to the steering tube and a U-shaped locking member of different form is described.
