Abstract

245,493. Gill, H. A., (Excella Corporation). Oct. 4, 1924. Cutting out.-Patterns for garments are made with the edges cut, with notched perforations and indicia for assembling, and with key-marks corresponding to the registering-marks or perforated shapes on master patterns by a method involving the use of a single set of printed sheets provided with the necessary indicia already printed. In Fig. 1 is indicated one of the printed sheets which are stacked for cutting and the master patterns applied to the top sheet, as indicated in Fig. 2, the reference numerals 15-32 representing the various master pattern sections corresponding to the garment sections of one particular size.. The indicia for assemblage such as " match this notch 4 with a notch 4 back J " are printed on all the sheets within an area corresponding to the smallest set of master patterns, as indicated in Fig. 4, which shows a cut pattern section with the indicia within the smallest section which would be cut and indicated in dotted lines 49. Only one set of printed sheets is therefor necessary for different-sized patterns to be cut. In the cutting process, the master patterns of the particular size required are applied to the top sheet as stated above, suitably fixed in position, and the outlines marked. To ensure registration, shaped apertures 12 in the master pattern are registered with similarly-shaped key-marks printed on the sheets. After outlining, the stack is cut out into sections in the usual way.
