Abstract

Statistics, compiling mechanically.-In a perforated card for statistical and other purposes each number to be set down on the card is represented by as many holes as there are units in the number. Fig. 1 shows the number 7238540 as represented. under the known methods, and Fig. 3 shows the same number represented according to the present invention. The columns may be divided up by extra spacing, as shown between holes " 5 " and " 6," Fig. 3, or by the use of a printed line. If the amount is a negative one this may be denoted by a special perforation.
