Impact pulverizers; mills and apparatus. - A grinding and pulverizing mill comprises a stationary hollow cylindrical body provided in successive parallel cross-sections on its internal periphery with teeth decreasing either in continuous sequence or in stages in pitch and depth and a coaxial solid body rotating therein having teeth engaging in the axial interdental spaces of the hollow body. As shown, the hollow body consists of five rings 1 --5 5 which serve in succession for breaking up, coarse grinding, fine grinding, and pulverizing the material fed to the mill through the hopper 6. The portions 1 - - 5 are provided with interengaging projections 12 - - 15, and the rotary spindle of the subdivided rotor 7 - - 11 is subdivided into a number of parts 19 - - 23 which interengage by means af square extensions. The toothed rings 7 - - 11 of the rotor engage in the axial spaces of the toothed rings 1 - - 5. The number of the teeth in the different sections increases downwards, and the lowermost 5, 11 of the pulverizing-rings have teeth of equal length. The parts 1 - - 5 are each formed in four or more axially subdivided segments 35 - - 38, each having a cheek 39 which is held by bolts 40 and screws 41 to the frame rails 34. By adjusting the screws 40, 41, each ring segment can be displaced so that the inner periphery of the corresponding ring is reduced or expanded. The meal from the pulverizer 5, 11 passes into a casing 42 from which it is withdrawn by suction applied by pipes 43. The preliminary breaker 1, 7 may be dispensed with.
