Abstract

A valve for an auto-cut off faucet comprises a faucet body 10, a water chamber 12 and a control valve 20. The upper section of the control valve body comprises an oil chamber 21 having a central hole 22 through which passes a valve rod 40. A spring 60 pushes the valve rod 40 up so that a seal 49 at the lower end of the valve rod 40 abuts the lower end of the center hole 22 of the body of the control valve 20. Pushing down a knob 15 opens the control valve 20 allowing water to flow from the water chamber 12 out of the faucet at 11. Oil in the chamber is simultaneously forced out of the oil chamber 21 by piston 45 and flows via passages 42, 41 back to the oil chamber. Releasing the knob 15 allows spring 60 to return the valve rod 40 to its uppermost position where the seal 49 shuts off the water supply.
