Abstract
1337256 Valves JAMES BARWELL Ltd 24 Nov 1970 [11 Dec 1969] 60438/69 Heading F2V A self-closing tap has a closure member 31 adapted to be moved off seat 25 upon depression of rod 12 against spring 17, thereby allowing flow to spout 20 from inlet 18 via chamber 19, inclined ports 30a and chamber 34 in a cylinder 22 carried by seat 25. The rod 12 carries a damping piston 32 defined by a cup seal which, upon depression of the rod allows water trapped in chamber 33 to flow therepast to chamber 34. Subsequent closure of the tap is controlled by the rate at which water can leak into chamber 33 via porous sintered bronze disc 29 held against resilient washer 28 by cap 30 which extends with clearance into inlet 18. Threaded retainer 14 has projections abutting seat 25 to hold the latter in place.
