Abstract

A vehicle emissions control device is a device designed to reduce carbon emissions from Internal Combustion engines burning fossil fuels and is fitted as part of the exhaust system. The system comprises of two main components: a high voltage generator and a Plasma/Corona generation device. Exhaust gases are directed through the device, while in the device, a proportion of the gases are neutralised using the high temperatures produced in the Plasma/Corona, the remaining gases are passed out of the system. The plasma/corona generation unit comprises a swirl device 1 situated by the inlet 4 to direct the gases in a circular motion. The anode 6 is in the form of pointed teeth 8, or needles, in order to provide a greater contact for ionizing the gases.

VEHICLE EMISSIONS CONTROLLER SYSTEM
VEHICLE EMISSIONS CONTROLLER SYSTEM 2452008
Description:
The VEHICLE EMISSIONS CONTROLLER SYSTEM is a Plasma / Corona based system, comprising of a High Voltage generation unit, producing in excess of 20kv from a I 2v or 24v system (as found on a car or Heavy goods vehicle), the electricity is then supplied to a Plasma/Corona Generation Unit (as per drawing supplied). Exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine passes through the Inlet (4), where an Air swirl device directs the flow of gases into the pointed teeth/wire/, a tapered end on the anode further directs the gases into the air gap between the anode and cathode, as the noxious gases flow over the anode which is supplied with a positive potential, a high proportion of the noxious gases are ionised. The lonised gases are attracted to the cathode (7) which comprises of a metalised tube, the gases are burnt at a high temperature produced in the Plasma/Corona.

  1. VEI-IICLE EMISSIONS CONTROLLER SYSTEM
Claims I) The PlasmalCorona Generation Unit has a swirl device (1) on the front end directing the gases in a circular motion onto the pointed parts(8) of the Anode providing greater contact for Jonising.
  2. 2) The Anode is fix using a set of metal pillars (5) mounted on high voltage insulators (2), as the insulators are providing support as a solid object, fatigue is kept to a minimum. The ceramic pillars are heated to + 430°C preventing a build up of carbon deposits.
  3. 3) The Anode has a formation of teeth/needles, which are equal in length, encouraging equal dissipation of the Plasma/Corona through the length of the Anode shaft (6) inside the Plasma Generation Unit.
  4. 4) The Power is applied through insulation point (3) through a ceramic-based material, similar in construction to an Engine Spark plug.
  5. 5) The power wire is High Voltage insulation capable of containing 50kv, with a Page2 -
