Abstract

245,127. Billiter, J., and Siemens &, Halske Akt.-Ges. Dec. 23, 1924, [Convention date]. Diaphragms are made by introducing calcium fluoride or talc into the interstices of an asbestos fabric or like foundation. The material may be introduced from both sides or from one side only, this side, in the case of an horizontal diaphragm, facing the cathode. The material may be introduced by dusting or rubbing or by infiltration from a liquid suspension. Common salt may also be added to increase the porosity. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the use of quartz, asbestos, or meerschaum powders, and of magnesium compounds or silicic acid as filling materials, and further comprises the use of a diaphragm to which a filling material is superficially connected by means of a non-setting binder. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
