Abstract

245,075. Mannesmann Kõlte Industrie Akt.-Ges. Dec. 24, 1924, [Convention date]. Refrigerating, absorption machines for. - The cooling-element for the generator-absorber vessel 1, Figs. 2 and 4, of a machine working on the reversing system consists of a number of straight tubes 16, 29, 30 extending through the end walls of the vessel and connected together and to the water supply and outlet tubes 15, 17 by external disconnectible couplings, whereby the tubes may be readily cleaned by brushes. Where an inner generator vessel 32, 33, Fig. 2, is employed, as described in Specification 241,279, the cooling tubes are located through it or near it. One tube 16 may be arranged in the vapour space, but near the surface of the liquor, while the others are submerged. The supply of cooling-water alternately to the condenser tank 3, Figs. 1 and 4, and to the generator-absorber 1 is effected by an oscillating vessel 21, Fig. 1, receiving from a fixed supply pipe 12, 20 and delivering to compartments 24, 25 leading respectively to a pipe 18 extending to the bottom of the tank 3 and to the pipe 15 connected with the pipe 16 of the generator-absorber. A thermal element located in a recess 5 in the generator-absorber actuates a diaphragm switch device 7 which controls the heating medium and rocks the oscillating vessel 21. The rectifier vessel 4, Fig. 1 ,is preferably partly submerged in and cooled by the condenser cooling water, and by arranging the outlet 19 of the condenser tank at the top there is ensured a reserve of cooling-medium for the condenser and rectifier in the event of failure of water supply. The water supply pipe 12 is fitted with a bent overflow pipe 27, through which the water escapes when the pressure is excessive, and the water spurts through a hole 28 to indicate the defect. The vapour passes from the generator through a pipe 8 to the rectifier 4, thence through a pipe 9, shut-off member 10 and pipe 11 to the condenser 26, and from the condenser to the evaporator through a pipe 36.
