Abstract

A livestock shelter or barrier is constructed from waste tyres stacked and bound together. Typically a stack of four tyres, one upon the other, is tied with plastic strapping or with cable ties to form a block. Such blocks can be stacked until the desired height is obtained to offer protection, to livestock. Vertically adjacent blocks can be secured together by tying around the top two tyres of the bottom block and the bottom two tyres of the top block. The wall may take the form of a cross, a circle, or a square, to suit the terrain. Adjacent stacks of tyres may be secured together by strapping passing through the top two tyres of each stack.

Description

LIVESTOCK SHELTER
This invention relates to a livestock shelter offering protection from * wind, rain, sleet and snow. The composition is a wall constructed of waste tyres to a width of three tyres and a height governed by the livestock needing shelter. The shelter can be a permanent or temporary structure.
The building of a tyre wall to construct a livestock shelter begins with stacking four tyres upon each other and binding them with plastic strapping tape at the three equidistant points, making a secure semi-rigid block. (Fig 1) This process is carried out throughout the construction.
The next block of four bound tyres is placed on top of the first block * and secured together between the top two tyres of the lower block and the bottom two tyres of the upper block. (Fig 2) 0 This process is repeated until the desired height of the shelter is 0 reached.
The second stack of tyres is constructed in the same way as the first and fastened to the adjacent stack by passing plastic strapping tape round the top two tyres of each block. (Fig 3) The third stack of tyres is built and secured in the same way.
I I (
This process continues until the desired length of wall is reached.
The wall is then a construction of three rows of tyres, all of which are strapped together both vertically and horizontally.
These shelters can be constructed in the shape of a cross, which offers shelter and protection from all wind directions, a circle or square depending on the nature of the terrain and the type of livestock. C 00 0 U C o000 C (.
