Abstract

A multi compartment recycling bin to encourage the separation of waste material. Preferably the compartments are removable from the recycling bin, with each compartment having a handle to facilitate the removal of the compartments from the bin. The bin may have lids that allow the user to access each of the compartments. Preferably each lid has a spring touch release opening and closing mechanism and a label to assist in the separation of waste material.

Background
Nearly two thirds of all household rubbish can be recycled. Recycling saves a lot of energy and raw materials, and avoids waste going to landfill.
Waste not, want not". This age-old adage sums up Government initiatives encouraging recycling.
The current national controls on waste originate from the Control of Pollution Act 1974 and were greatly tightened with the introduction of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Legislation originally focused on the disposal of waste, but since the introduction of the EC Framework Directive on waste control, it has extended to include the storage, treatment, recycling and transport of waste.

Statement of invention
The multi-compartment recycling bin is invented to encourage easy recycling in every household. This is in line with the government initiative encouraging recycling. It is stylish, versatile, and will blend in with modern and classical homes.
Description
The Recycling Bin will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1.& 2 -Shows the unit from a side view. The unit is rectangular and is made from aluminum to enhance the look and durability.
Figure 3. -Shows the unit from a front view of which you can see the four compartments lids. The recycling bin is designed with four removable compartments. The top lifts off to enable easy access to four individual compartments. Each compartment is designed with a back handle to enable them to be easily lifted out of the unit and emptied. Compartments are held firmly in position in the unit by ridges.
Figure 4. -Shows the bin from the side showing the angles and the depth of the unit Figure 5-Shows the lids, the lids are designed with integral hinge giving a clean and simple overall look. Users can choose labels for each compartment based on their specific recycling requirements. Each lid has a press release mechanism in the centre to enable it to be opened and closed.

    3. The recycling bin compartments as specified in claim 2 are removable and each compartment have handles at the back for easy lifting out and emptying.
