Abstract
A recycling unit that is segmented into five compartments where one of the compartments is accessible at the bottom of the unit and four of the compartments are accessible via the top of the unit. The unit allows the collection and storage of recycling materials such as plastic, glass, metal and paper. Preferably the four compartments accessible from the top of the unit contain four removable containers with individual hinged lids 1 that may fit into a moulded section 3 on the top of the unit. Alternatively the four compartments may be used with recycling bags. The compartment at the bottom of the unit may have a pull out drawer 6 for storage. The unit may also have wheels 8.
Description
RECYCLING UNIT
The invention relates to a recycling unit for residential or commercial use. It allows recycling materials to be collected and stored ready for disposal by the local council or via recycling units Due to legislation people now have to sort their recyclable items into different categories, the problem is trying to keep different bags available simultaneously to be able to do this.
What this recycling unit achieves is that it enables all the different recycling categories to be collected and stored in a convenient self contained structure, thereby making the whole method of recycling more convenient simple hygienic and manageable.
The object of this invention allows collection and storage of recycling materials such as paper, glass, plastic and metal for residential and commercial use. The invention can be used indoors or outside and can be made in a variety of sizes.
The essential features of this invention are a spacious container with segmented areas, via a central feature, with a lid with segmented parts which allows collection and storage of recycling materials either with separate internal containers or via recycling bags. At the bottom of the container is a pull -out section for further storage.
Preferably the unit is made of plastics material but it could be made from metal or from a combination of these materials.
There are two pages of drawing submitted in which: Page 1/2 FIGURE 1 shows the side section of the container, the lids 1 open via the handle 2. 3 represents the central moulding with four holes for depositing the recycling materials. The container can be moved by use of a handle 4. 5 shows the container. The side view of the drawer can be seen 6 and opened by the handle 7 this drawer is for storing newspapers.
The wheels to manoeuvre the container 8.
FIGURE 2 represents the front view of the container with the numbers corresponding as above.
Page 2/2 FIGURE 3 shows the top of the container with the four lids I closed 9 represents the hinges to open the lids. The moulded section 3 has four sections each with a raised lip which allows (see figure 4) the container to be held in place; if not a container then a recycling bag. The section into which the small container is place to store the recycling materials, there are four segments, each with its own container, which allows four different materials to be stored. So one segment can store glass another paper, a further section metal cans and a final one plastic.
FIGllRE 4 Shows the container 10 which fits into the moulded section (see Figure 3) there are four of these, one for each section. 1 1 shows the ridge which fits over the raised lip (see figure 3). 3.
