Abstract

An interlocking luggage system comprises a main suitcase and a second suitcase that can be locked securely together to form one large case. The second suitcase may be smaller in one dimension then the main suitcase. Both suitcases may be wheeled and the handles of the main and second suitcase may interlock when the cases are connected.

Description

INTEP'.OCKING SUITCASE This invention relates to recent restrictions
placed by some airlines on the maximum weight allowed for checked baggage.
As travel is international, other airlines use the number of pieces of checked luggage as their main criteria rather than the weight.
The main suitcase, fig 1, is similar to a normal roller suitcase but can be locked securely to the second smaller case to create one solid large roller.
The handle shown on fig 2, when rotated, pulls the two cases together and interlocks with the handle on fig 1 to create a central pull handle.
The locking mechanism could be altered to suit size and ease of use.
Fig 3, no. 1, shows the handle sliding to form a central pull.
Fig 3, no. 2, shows the smaller case rotating handle which works to pull both cases tightly together.
Fig 3, no. 3, indicates a strong plastic V shaped seal which is pulled together to create a solid join. This will also serve as the protective rest when the case is placed on the ground.

    CLAIM
    Interlocking suitcase The interlocking suitcase is a rigid carrier made in two parts, both of which are solid and of differing sizes so as to be used independently if a smaller amount of effects need to be carried. Both may be locked to form one larger carrier that may be pulled as one unit. The design allows for the differing "check in" rules applied by, but not exclusively to, airlines. If excess baggage is charged for pieces, the interlocking suitcase may be checked in as one piece. If excess or weight restrictions are the limiting factor, the case can be split and checked separately, at all times maintaining strength and security.
