Abstract
244,247. Woods, R. Nov. 21, 1924. Switches, without quick action; contacts.- Switches for controlling wireless circuits comprise a recessed insulating block 1, Fig. 1, carrying a number of spring-pressed contacts 4 which bear on the periphery of an insulating cylinder rotatable within the recess in the fixed block and carrying bridging members for inter-connecting the fixed contacts. The bridging members carried by the rotatable cylinder may comprise pairs of phosphor-bronze balls 13 pressed apart by springs 12. Fig, 2, or contact strips 21, Fig. 6, which are held by being dropped into saw-cuts in the block 7, the fixed contacts (Fig. 3) consisting of balls 4 held in metal tubes 2 against the action of the springs 3. For securing the switch to a panel 15 the block 1 bears a screwed bush 14 secured by a nut 16 in a single hole in the panel, the operating spindle 9 for the block 7 projecting through the bush 14 and carrying the operating knob 10 at its outer end. The annular movement of the block 7 is limited by a screw 18 in a gap 17 of the flange 8 as shown in Fig. 4. The Specification also describes the manner in which this switch may be employed as a series-parallel switch in the tuning circuits of wireless apparatus.
