[Class 38 (v).] The contacts of a switch are mounted on a base f of insulating material which is provided on each side of its centre line f<1> with a number of pairs of slots f<2> and holes f<3>. The fixed contacts b consist of U-shaped strips the limbs of which pass through a pair of slots f<2> and are held in position by screws f<4> in holes f<3> and provided with terminal nuts f<5> which also serve for connecting the leads. The movable contacts c have one long limb and one very short limb and are secured in the same manner. Pairs of contacts are placed as desired on the base f and the contacts c are adapted to be forced into engagement with the contacts b by means of projections d<1> on cams d mounted on a spindle a provided with an operating knob a'. Fig. 3 shows a number of such switches having a common operating spindle such as for controlling the coils of a wireless receiver. The three bases f are mounted by means of standards h on a common base (not shown) the end standards being provided with bushings g<1> for supporting the operating spindle a. The spindle a also carries a disc l having depressions on its periphery which engage a spring (not shown) to locate the operating spindle in each of its operative positions. A lug l<1> on the disc l is adapted to operate a quick action tumbler switch m at one point of its travel, and a similar disc l is provided at the other end of the spindle a for this purpose.
