Sheet-separators; pile tables and supports; registering-devices.-In a sheet-feeding apparatus for printing, folding, and like machines, and of the kind wherein the sheets are fed continuously from an upper table 2, past a throat 4, over a lower table 5, and are advanced by combing- rollers 8 and feed-rollers 9, 10 to a forwarding- table 14 fitted with inclined feed-rollers 15 serving to keep the side edges of the sheet against a registering-bar 16, the tables 2, 5, and the sheetforwarding devices are mounted in a frame F which is adjustable transversely by means of a screw 12 and nut 11 relatively to the forwarding- table 14. The table 14 is integral with an under frame 1 fitted with rails 7 on which travel rollers 6 fitted to the frame F carrying the tables 2, 5, and associated feeding-devices. The rollers 6 move over the rails when the screw 12 is operated. The feeding-devices are driven in an adjustable manner either by a motor 17 fitted on the frame F and provided with a motor control, or by bevel gearing, two universal joints 20, 21, and a telescopic shaft 22 from a variable cone- and-belt drive 23, 25, Fig. 2. To enable the machine to be used for laying-on by hand, the frame F is mounted so that it can be lowered with the rails 7 to bring the upper table 2 level with the table 14. The frame F is either normally held in the position shown by links 29, 30, of which the links 30 are slightly the longer, and to lower the frame the pivot 31 of the links 30 is rotated by gearing from a hand-wheel 33, and the devices assume the position shown in Fig. 5, in which the table 2 is level with the table 14. In a modification, the devices are raised and lowered by geared screws of different pitch so as to have the required differential action.
