Diaphragms. - A tensioning-device for diaphragms of telephones and other acoustic apparatus comprises an elastic pressure ring, internallv coned or in the form of a hollow truncated cone, pressed against the diaphragm so that it is held flat over the whole of its surface by the radial pressure of the ring. As shown in Fig. 1, the diaphragm a is stretched by pressure applied to a hollow truncated conical ring d by a thrust plate f and bolts g, h. The diaphragm may be formed with a peripheral flange b. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the ring v is internally coned and expanded by a wedging ring o pressed against the ring v by bolts s, t with or without a thrust plate r. The rings d, Fig. 1, and v, Fig. 3, may be partially or wholly slit radially and may comprise several parts, and the ring o, Fig. 3, may also be in several parts. An abutment u of elastic material may be provided to prevent the flange b from being bent down.
