Abstract

Frequency ranges may be extended for example from 6KHz to 16 KHz by the addition of various shapes inserted and bonded to an existing armature and diaphragm. The basic addition consists of a plate attached to the armature button at the centre of the diaphragm, creating a high pressure annular volume behind it. The plate may be plane or curved or shaped specifically for the requirements of a particular speaker and attached in some cases to the diaphragm of the speaker itself forming a high frequency horn on the loudspeaker axis.
