Abstract

Self-feeding brushes; brushes, hand-supported, driving by power; india-rubber brushes; brush stocks.-A rotary brush comprises a drum-shaped casing L, a cover K for the casing, and a shaft E carrying a Pelton wheel D and a worm P, the latter meshing with a worm wheel on a shaft G to which the brush-head I is detachably secured. The casing L is provided with a hollow stem A adapted to receive a hose Y connected to a source of water supply. An aperture branching from the bore of the stem directs the water against the vanes of the wheel D. The casing L has a peripheral opening R to allow the waste water to be projected over the brush-head. A splash guard J is located near the opening. The cover K has slots M through which pass screws N screwed into the casing, this means of connection allowing the brush-head to be adjusted angularly with respect to the opening R. The brush-head may be of cylindrical or conical shape. It may comprise a soft vulcanized rubber stem with several radiating rubber pencils. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a modified construction in which the hollow stem A has a branched connection for attachment to a source of compressed air. The air may be used alone or in conjunction with the water to drive the turbine. In the former case a dry brush-head may be used for polishing purposes. More than one aperture may be provided in the bore the stem A to direct water against the vanes of the wheel D. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
