Abstract
243,483. Moir, Sir E. W. Oct. 3, 1924. Reinforced concrete.-Reinforcements for concrete walls, piers, columns and the like cast in situ between shutters comprises flanged expanded or other apertured metal channel-section uprights a arranged in intertied pairs spaced apart base to base preferably with an interposed fibrous layer h separating the sides of the wall. The metal ties j, Fig. 6, between the uprights may be formed of spiral wire with the centre indicated by a spiral of different pitch. The flanges of the uprights may be stiffened by half-round channel strips and may support pre-cast concrete buttons c against which the shutters d rest and are held by wire ties e passing transversely through the uprights and obliquely downwards through sawcuts d<1> in the upper borders of the shutters, the ends of the ties being secured to cranked metal clip plates f. These clip plates support boards g which form recesses into which the superposed shutters may be inserted..The uprights are held in position by straining wires m led over supports or posts n at the ends of the wall and are further tied by oblique struts k.
