Abstract
A doughnut shaped package, which will fully envelope a Christmas tree from the base, up, eliminating the problems of needle drop when moving a tree after Christmas. The unit is fixed around the stump of the tree before it is fixed in a pot and put in situation. It can then be forgotten, until the decorations are being removed, when it can be unfolded from (4) to produce, in the first instance, a sheet whose circumference is greater than the lower branch diameter of the tree, and in the second instance, unfolds vertically to envelope the whole tree. The bag can then be tied at the top (8). The base holds the stump tightly, thus encapsulating the tree and its needles, by means of an elasticated band (2).
Description

I

Description

The Gift This invention relates to a sheath to cover a used Christmas tree after being stripped of its decorations, before removing from the house into the garden.

When removing a Christmas tree from its location in the house, to the garden, they shed a great deal of needles.

This can mean that much time is spent having to clean the carpet, floors, curtains and anywhere else the needles manage to get. There is also a health and safety risk with the shed needles, which can stick into carpets and furnishings and remain, unnoticed until they prick an unknowing victim, about their person.

To overcome this problem, the present invention proposes a simple, safe sheath to envelope the tree once it has been stripped of its decorations.

The sheath, will fully envelope the tree and eliminate the problems already described. The sheath is fixed around the stwnp of the tree before it is fixed in a pot and put in situation. It can then be forgotten, until the decorations are being removed, when it can be unwrapped to produce, in the first instance, a sheet whose circumference is greater than the base diameter of the tree. And in the second instance, unfolds vertically to envelope the whole tree. The bag can then be tied at the top. The base holds the stump tightly, thus encapsulating the tree and its needles.

The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure I Shows an unopened unit before fixing.

Figure 2 Shows an unopened unit fixed to the Christmas tree stump.

Figure 3 Shows a part opened unit, attached to the stump, covering the base diameter of the tree.

Figure 4 Shows the fully opened unit, covering a Christmas tree, tied at the top.

The unit, in figure 1, shows an outer case of Elasticated tubing (1), wrapped around the main unit, Which is doughnut shaped. The whole in the center of the Unit (2), is fonned by the elasticated band, that is placed Over the stump of the tree. (3) Is a thin membrane of bag Material, allowing the elasticated band to be manipulated Around any sized tree, keeping a tight fit. The rest of the Doughnut shape (4) is made up of the carefully folded and Formed bag that will ultimate'y envelope the tree. As none of the parts that make up the unit, are hard, the unit can be manipulated and stretched over the tree's stump. This comfortable fit will also ensure the needles will not escape, once the bag is fully opened.

Figure 2, shows the unit fixed on the tree stump (5). As the unit is small and compact, it does not detract from the look of the tree itself. The unit's outer packaging can be in plain or seasonal materials and will therefore blend in with the presents under the tree, be hidden by a container, or be Hidden by the branches of the tree.

Figure 3, shows the unit once the outer packaging has been removed and the first stage of unwrapping has been Completed. The outer packaging can be discarded, Revealing the bag within. Stage one of the unwrapping Involves pulling it out to a flat disc (6) to greater than the width of the trees outer branches. Note the ring of material on the outside edge of the circumference (7), this is the folded material for the second stage of unwrapping. Once Stage 1 has been completed, the tree can be undressed, as a lot of needle shedding occurs at the stage of removing decorations from a tree. Most of the needles will fall within the circumference of the unit, saving the floor. Once stage two is complete, the shed needles will be within the contained unit.

Figure 4, shows the completed unit. Once the tree is undressed, the bag can now be unfolded vertically around the sides of the tree. For larger trees, two people will be required to lift the bag vertically until the tree is enveloped.

The top can then be tied as with a conventional bin bag (8).

The tree is now self-contained in the bag and can be removed from its situation to the outside, with no fear of needles littering its path. The top opening is tied tight, the bottom opening is held fast by the band to the stump.

Claims (1)
-
Claims 1. A flexible doughnut shaped package that stretches over thebase stump of a Christmas tree, enabling the user to, unfold the package, to fully envelope the tree from the base up, thus preventing the mess caused by excessive needle drop, upon removing the tree from its situation.

2. A flexible doughnut shaped package according to claim 1, in which the packaging varies in colour to suit the customer's preference.

3. A flexible doughnut shaped package according to claim I, in which the inner material various in depth and diameter to suit the size of a specific tree.

4. A flexible doughnut shaped package according to claim 1, in which the inner ring that stretches over the base of the stump, varies in size dependent upon the diameter of the tree stump.

5. A flexible doughnut shaped package according to claim 1, in which the outer wrapper varies, in texture and material, dependent upon the customer's preference.
