Abstract

243,136. Cormond, A. Oct. 22, 1924. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Switches, quickaction, operated by a rotary spindle have a ball-race 23 situated between the movable contact - carrying member 7 and a washer 22. One of these members, e.g. the washer 22 has a plane surface. The other member 7 has a number of spherical depressions arranged at equal intervals on its lower surface to accommodate the balls 23. The invention is shown applied to a switch having an operating spindle 4 connected by a spring 14 to a member fixed to the member 7 and to the contact member 3, but when the spindle 4 is rotated, the members 3 and 7 are prevented from following it by the member 7 pressing against a ring 19 which has a lug 20 engaging one of the teeth of a fixed ratchet-wheel 21. Release of the ring 19 and consequently of the members 3 and 7 is effected by a cam 18 on the spindle 4 moving the ring 19 in a radial direction till the lug 20 slips off its tooth. The members 3, 7, 19 then rotate, to make or break circuit, till the lug 20 engages the next tooth of the wheel 21.
