Abstract
A cement mixer drum cover is provided which is fitted over the drum (C) of a cement mixer to prevent any splashing from the mixer and also to prevent any products in the mixer from drying out. The cover comprises a hardwearing, flexible, waterproof material with a tight fitting clasping edge made of elastic, tie spring or cord with ears protruding from the edge to serve as handles to detach the cover from the mixer.
Description
CEMENT MIXER DRUM OPENING COVER
TITLE Cement Mixer Drum Cover
DECRIPTION IN BREIF
a) A mixer cover fitted over the front of the mixer drum that prevents splashes while using or cleaning the mixer with water and other cleaning materials such as gravel and bricks, while the mixer drum is turning. (ref Advantages, section a) b) The Mixer Cover also prevents mixed products drying out to quickly, if the product needs to be kept inside the mixer drum. (ref Advantages, section b)
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
1) The Mixer Cover fits tightly over the opening of the mixer drum. To seal the opening.
2) The Mixer Cover is made in different sizes to fit different sized cement mixers.
3) The Mixer Cover is made from a water proof material strong enough to withstand any product that is normally put into a cement mixer.
ADVANTAGES
a) With the Mixer Cover fitted over the front of the mixer drum the dirty water or any product inside the drum, can not splash out creating a mess or damage.
b) With the Mixer Cover fitted over the front of the mixer drum, products left inside the mixer are normally prone to drying out. The Mixer Cover will slow down this process by greatly reducing the evaporation time, giving the product a longer life span. iv
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to a cover (A) that spans the opening of the drum of a cement mixer (B).
A cement mixer is used for mixing products such as water, cement, sand and concrete together for building and property maintenance.
While building sites, DIY projects and general builders need to use cement mixers to mix large amounts of adhesive product, they also need to completely clean there cement mixer, straight after each use. Otherwise the adhesive product will dry quickly causing a build up of heavy product which will eventually damage the mixer or cause injury to the user.
To clean the inside of a mixer the normal practice is to part fill the drum with water and then to add gravel or bricks, the mixer is started and the mixer turns causing the water gravel or bricks to splash.
The dirty water containing the adhesive product gets splashed out of the mixer up to several meters away causing damage and mess to the surrounding area.
Builders are aware that on all sites such as private dwellings, driveways, commercial buildings, public places and building sites they have to be Health & Safety aware and have to keep their environment and tools clean and tidy. This is where the first use of the mixer cover (A) comes in. Putting the cleaning material in to the mixer (B) and fitting the Mixer Cover (A) to the drum, then start the mixer.
The Mixer Cover (A) will prevent the contaminated water from being splashed out of the drum on to the surrounding area, electrical equipment or people, improving the Health & Safety of any site, and preventing any damage or mess to property caused by the dirty water, and giving the cement mixer a longer life span.
The other use for the Mixer Cover (A) is to prevent the drying out of any products mixed in a cement mixer. On a busy site, large amounts of product are mixed. This sometimes means that product is left in the mixer waiting to be used. The problem with the product being left in the mixer is that it only has a limited time for it to be used due to evaporation, and depending on weather conditions this can be reduced even further. If this happens the product may need to be thrown away causing unnecessary environmental damage and extra cost to the builder or customer. To keep the product useable for longer, apply the Mixer Cover, quickly sealing the drum and slowing down the evaporation process.
The Mixer Cover (A) can also be used to prevent splashing while mixing any product in a cement mixer when fitted.

Claims (2)
1) A Cement Mixer drum cover to stop any product splashing out of the cement mixer drum. The cover being made of a hardwearing, flexible, waterproof material with a tight fitting clasping edge made of elastic, spring, tie cord, with handles to detach the cover from the mixer.
2) A Mixer Cover according to claim 1, that will prevent products drying out to quickly inside the mixer, when fitted.
