Abstract

A lid for a concrete mixer to prevent splashing and spilling. The lid may be of the push-on, pull-off type. The lid may be made out of plastic and be simple in design.

CONCRETE MIXER LID
The invention relates to a portable concrete mixer as shown in Fig 1 attached.
Portable concrete mixers are used by the DIY enthusiast right up to trade users that are using them all day every day.
My invention solves the problem of spillage and splashing. (Please see Fig 2 attached) Eg To clean a mixer out at the end of each day you have to put water into the mixer along with either gravel or brick ends. This is to remove any mixed concrete or mortar from the sides. When you do this the water that has mixed with the concrete/mortar splashes out of the mouth of the drum. This is not a problem at the start of a job (because of the site being in a mess) but when the site is dean at the end of a job and you clean the mixer out for a final time, some of the contents will splash over the patio/pathway/fenceshalls/doors/windows etc. A lid would prevent this from happening. (Please see Fig 3 attached).
Also, when you add sand and cement into the mixer drum and turn it on a certain amount of cement dust flies out of the mouth of the drum causing dirtying of clothing as well as potentially going in someone's eye.
The points I have raised above will only become apparent to you H you actually use a mixer. It is because I experienced the problems over a period of time that I decided to find a solution.
The important feature of my invention is the simplicity of the lid - is push-on pulled.
My invention vail be made out of plastic because it has to work in all weathers and it is likely to get abused by builders/landscapers. (Please see Fig 4 attached).
This is a very simple invention and will be relatively easy to put into mass production.
