242,943. Leconte, G. Nov. 12, 1924, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Doubling and twisting machines with twisting- arrangements at delivery; spindle apparatus; winding-machines. -A twisting and doubling apparatus for yarns, threads, cords, cables, and the like comprises a frame 1 carrying the bobbin 15 and a yarn tension device 18, and freely mounted on rotary shafts 3, 4, which are mounted eccentrically to each other and carry guide arms 13 through which the material passes, as shown by dotted lines, whereby two twists are imparted thereto for each revolution of the shafts. The shaft 3 is driven by a pulley 7 and rotates the shaft 4 through arms 10 connected by a thread, cord or wire 12; circular members may be used in place of the arms. The frame 1 remains stationary owing to the eccentric mounting of the shafts 3, 4. The yarn is wound by means of a roller 20 a pressing-element 21 and drum 22. The apparatus may be arranged horizontally the eccentric mounting of the shafts 3, 4 being dispensed with and the lower part being weighted to prevent rotation of the frame. The bobbin 15 may be a winding-bobbin, the yarn passing through the apparatus in the reverse direction from that shown.
