March 26, 1925 Ammonia.-Spent liquor from ammonium sulphate plant is supplied by a pipe k to an apparatus for slaking and mixing lime with a liquid. A tray a, which receives the lime is rotated on a vertical shaft c in a compartment b into which the lime passes through perforations a' in the tray a when sufficiently slaked or reduced in dimensions. Stirrers h are mounted on the shaft c in the compartment b. Steam is supplied by a pipe m and passes through the perforations a<1>. The liquid level may be above the base of the tray a. The axle c is supported by arms d between which the lime is fed. An outlet o for the cream of lime is provided.
