Abstract

242,611. Bourgeois, C. Nov. 6, 1924, [Convention date]. Shuttles.-A sheet-metal threading device for loom shuttles consists of two horizontal portions 1, 8 connected by a doubled inclined body portion 7. The head 1 has a nose 2 and a curved edge 3 which guides the weft, passed round the nose 2, to a slot 15 leading to the shuttle eye. The length of weft passing from the shuttle-peg at the same time slides down the body 7 into a T-slot 11, 12 therein. The device is positioned by a screw 10 and a tongue 5 which engages a groove 14. The shuttle-nose is bevelled away at 17 to assist in manipulating the weft, and is grooved at 16 to receive the threader. An opening 6 is provided in the threader to take up ballooning thread. The shuttle may be threaded manually or automatically, and in the latter case an additional upwardly and backwardly curved plate 19, Fig. 8, may be fitted to guide the thread to the top of the slit 15.
