Lay-figure stands.- -An arm for a lay figure is formed hollow by pressing or casting dense rubber in moulds, preferably under high pressure. A strengthening layer of textile material may be applied to the interior surface. A plug f of rubber is vulcanized into the arm to support the portion i of the joint attaching the arm to the shoulder. In the construction shown the portion i is secured by a barbed extension h which is simultaneously pressed with the plug. In order to imitate the pores of the human skin the exterior surface of the arm may be roughened whilst being cast &c. or, subsequently, by a sand blast and an external layer applied by dipping the arm in a suitable rubber solution. The arm may be partially vulcanized. Only a portion of the arm may be formed hollow, the remaining portion being formed of spongy rubber. Rubber substitutes may be employed.
