Abstract
A lightweight, freestanding, foldable support stand comprising of two wooden frames, one slightly bigger than the other to achieve a slight gradient, joined by pivotal fixings at the centre of each side including webbing supports and adjustable safety strap that holds babies in their infant carriers at table height.
Description
-
1 2418138 Infant Carrier Stand The invention relates to a free standing, foldable support stand that allows young babies in their infant carriers to be safely placed at table height.
Parents with young infants that are visiting public places such as restaurants are at present expected to put the child in his/her infant carrier either balanced unsafely on a chair or on the floor, exposing the child to potential danger.
The Infant carrier Stand is designed for such businesses and establishments to allow a child that is unable to sit unaided in a conventional high chair to be placed in a safe and secure way where he/she is easily visible and at a practical height.
The Infant Carrier Stand folds flat for easy storage, is lightweight and has an adjustable safety belt which secures the carrier on top of the stand.
Preferably the stand is made from wood but could also be made from plastic, metal or a combination of these materials.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which FIGURE A Shows the whole stand FIGURE B shows the webbing that will support the carrier, and the safety strap that secures over the top of the carrier.
As shown in FIGURE A, the stand comprises two wooden frames that are joined by pivotal fixings in the centre of each side. One frame is slightly bigger than the other to achieve a slight gradient when the Carrier is in place.
The Frames are axed by routing a bed to house the ends of the cross bars and securing with metal screws from the outside to give maximum load bearing strength.
As shown in FIGURE B. the strips of webbing are stitched to create a loop each end that enables the cross bars to be passed through the loops. The safety belt is also strips of webbing with a buckle of known design that is stitched onto the webbing supports.
How It Works To use, Open the frame fully and stand it on a flat surface, Place the Infant Carrier on top of the webbing, allowing the front to rest on the front cross bar and the back to rest on the back cross bar Take the safety belt and fasten over the top of the Carrier, adjusting the tightness as necessary.
