UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.

My invention relates to baby chairs and has for its object to provide a new and useful chair for babies and small children which may be used on the seat of an adults chair and which will take the place of the usual high chair without the trouble of having one around.

A still further object is to provide a chair which after use may be folded up and put away in a very small space until further use.

A still further object is to provide a combination chair which may be a high chair, a car chair for use in an automobile, a play chair for use on the floor or for a walker to aid the very young children to learn to use their legs.

A still further object is to provide hooks on the chair to use it as a suspended swing by attaching it in suspended relation to a door way or roof by suitable spring and suspension straps.

These objects I accomplish with the device illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which similar numerals and letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views and as described in the specifications forming a part of this application and pointed out in the appended claim.

In the drawing in which I have shown the best and most preferred manner of building my invention Figure 1 is a side elevation of the chair.

Figure 2 is a front elevation of the chair.

Figure 3 is a perspective view of the chair.

Figure 4 is a side elevation of the chair folded. Figure 5 is a plan View of the bottom board. In the drawing I have shown the chair as made of a back A having a cross piece I to join the lower portion of the two legs 2 and 3 together, and across the top joining the two legs 2 and 3, I provide the back rest 4. To the back A, I then mount the tray frame B. The tray frame B is formed of two arms 6 and I joined at the front by a cross piece 8 to which the tray C is hingedly secured by the hinge In.

The tray C consists of front piece ll, sides l2 and I3, and bottom [4, secured to the cross piece 8 by the hinges [0, one on each side of the tray C and the frame B.

The ends of the two arms 6 and 'l of the frame B are pivotally secured to the sides 2 and 3 of the back A by suitable pivot pins I5.

The tray is provided with a catch IS on each side of the tray to hold it in the elevated usable position, but may be removed by disconnecting the hinges ID when the chair is being used as an automobile chair.

As a front support D for the frame B, I provide depending legs I! and I8 spaced apart by the brace l9 and pivotally suspended from the frame B by the pivot pins 20 in the pivot blocks 2| Side braces 22 are pivotally secured to the legs I! and I8 near the bottom end and the 5 other ends of the braces are secured to the side pieces 2 and 3 of the back A spaced below the cross piece I to brace the lower front end of the support D, and folding brackets 23 are secured to the legs 2 and 3 and to the braces 22 10 to lock the support D in fixed forward position when the device is in use, but to be folded when the chair is folded to be placed away after use.

Within the chair so formed I then suspend my flexible chair seat S which is made by support- 15 ing the back 25 to the back rest 4 and the sides 26 and 27 to the arms 6 and I by suitable fastening means as tacks, screws, or snap fasteners. The seat S is thus suspended and has a leg openings or holes 28 and 29 so that the child may go sit in the chair with proper position and comfort.

The front end of the seat is unsecured so that the child may stand up on the base onto which the chair is set if he desires. To convert 25 the chair into a walker I provide castors F on each leg 2 and 3 and support legs I1 and I8. These castors are set in brackets 30 which are secured to the legs of the chair and the castors may be removed from the brackets when the 30 chair is being used in any other capacity.

If desired, the legs of the device may all be connected together by placing a fiat bottom board 3| thereon, the bottom board having sockets 32 in the corners of the top side into 35 which the legs are set and set screws 33 through one side of the sockets into the legs hold the board in place.

The castors F may be inserted. directly into the ends of the legs of the chair if desired and 40 no brackets need then be used.

Having thus described my invention, I desire to secure by Letters Patent and claim:-

In a folding chair for infants the combination of a back formed of two vertical side pieces 45 secured spaced apartby a back rest at the top and a spacer cross piece at the lower end of the side pieces; a tray frame of two sides and a joining front with the sides pivotally connected to the sides of the back; depending legs pivotally secured and suspended from the front end of the tray frame; a cross piece between the lower ends of said legs to space them apart and hold them in fixed relation to each other; a brace from the lower end of said legs on each side thereof back pact space when not in use; and a flexible chair seat suspended from the back rest and from the sides of the tray frame with the front of the seat left loose, the seat forming a pocket like structure with leg openings through the front 5 of the pocket for the legs of the child.
