Abstract
A plasterer's tool has a guide 1 and a scraping element in the form of a featheredge 3 releasably secured to the guide by means of a winged head bolt (4, fig 4/4). The angular relationship between the guide and the featheredge is substantially 90 degrees. However, the featheredge is accommodated slidably within a channel 7 in the guide which is slightly wider than the featheredge, allowing the featheredge to rotate horizontally within the channel in a limited fashion. This feature enables the user to adjust the angular relationship between the guide and the featheredge to a limited extent, thereby accommodating reveal angles which are not 90 degrees. A slit 5 at the rear of the guide allows the guide to be clamped in position on the featheredge.
Description
BACKGROUND
This invention relates to a plasterers tool, when plasterers work on reveals it can be slow going work and they find it hard to level off the first coat of plaster/render to the correct angle required for the reveal.
STATEMENT OF INVENTION
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a feather edge that locks into a guide, the guide is held against a pre plastered face wall then the feather edge can be set to the required reveal angle and reveal depth then locked into position by way of a winged head bolt.
ADVANTAGES
The plasterers tool will make work easier and faster when leveling off the first coat of plaster to the required reveal angle
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to a device for helping plasterers acheve desired angles when plastering reveals.
When plasterers level off the first coat of plaster or render they find it hard to achieve the desired angle throughout the entire plain of the reveal. They sometimes use the back or their trowel or a piece of batten guided only by eye. This does not guarantee the desired angle throughout the entire plain of the reveal This invention proposes a featheredge that is housed into a guide, the guide is held against the pre plastered face wall and the featheredge can be set to the required depth and angle then the plasterer can level off the first coat of plaster or render with the guide maintaining the desired angle throughout the reveal This invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which DRAWING 1 - Shows the plasterers tool being used DRAWING 2 - Shows a plasterer leveling off plaster by eye DRAWING 3 Shows the range of angles that can be set DRAWING 4 - Shows a side view of the plasterers tool Drawing 2 shows how plasterers level off the first coat of plaster/render useing a piece of batten or the back of their trowel 8. Drawing 1 shows how the guide 1 maintains the desired angle with the feather edge 3 throughout the entire plain of the reveal 2. The feather-edge is locked into position by way of a winged head bolt 4.
Drawing 4 shows how the winged head bolt 4 is tightend through the featheredge 3 into the screw hole 9. Drawing 4 also shows a slit 5 at the back of the guide that allows the guide to clamp the featheredge in its desired position. Drawing 3 shows the range of angles 11 that can be set, these angles can be acheved because the feather edge is slightly smaller in width than the hollowed out section of the guide as show in drawing 3 (10) and drawing 4 (10)
Claims (1)
1) A Plasterers tool has a feather edge that locks into a guide, the feather edge can be set to a required reveal depth and reveal angle then locked into position by way of a winged head bolt 2) A Plasterers tool according to claim I the feather edge is housed in a hollowed out section at the rear end of the guide 3) A plasterers tool according to claim 1 the hollowed out section is wider than the feather edge so that different angles can be set 4) A plasterers tool according to claim 1 the feather edge and the guide will have various markings so that when lined up will create desired angles for different reveals 5) A plasterers tool according to any of the preceding claims all parts can be separated for cleaning 6) A plasterers tool according to any of the preceding claims all parts would be made from a durable non absorbent material 7) A plasterers tool according to claim 1, at the rear end of the guide there is a 2mm slit throughout the width of the guide to allow the guide to clamp the feather edge in its desired position
